The 2011 historic ornament featuring the West Chicago Roundhouse is due to arrive in mid April, 2012. The brick Roundhouse was built by the Chicago & North Western Railroad in 1869, and a frame addition was made to it in 1916. The Roundhouse, which had 13 stalls and a 70' steel turntable, was destroyed by fire in 1953.
The Friends of the Museum will take preorders and contact those who order as soon as it arrives. An ornament featuring a photograph of the West Chicago Roundhouse crew is available for $3.00, or $2.00 with the pre-payment of a Roundhouse ornament.
