Come spend a morning exploring one of the best examples of prairie in the state--right here in our own backyard. The West Chicago Prairie is located one mile west of the downtown. Here on 316 acres of varied habitat is the greatest plant diversity in all of DuPage County and home to a vibrant animal population.

The West Chicago City Museum is sponsoring three tours of the Prairie as a complement to the exhibit, A Prairie Primer. Tours will be led by a knowledgeable member of the West Chicago Prairie Stewardship Group who will identify flora and fauna, discuss habitat ecology, and explain prairie management practices.

Tours will be given from 10 a.m. - noon on Thursday, June 24, Saturday, July 31, and Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Group size is limited to 15 people for each tour, so please call the Museum at (630)231-3376 or email at museum@westchicago.org to reserve a space now.
