December 20, 2012 - The purpose of this newsletter is to provide an update to the status of construction for the City's North Factory Street Improvement Project, located between Ann Street and the Community High School District 94 parking lot, just east of the CN railroad tracks.

Construction activities commenced in late November following a delay to the original schedule. Significant progress was made this year including storm sewer installation, road base installation, and fire hydrant replacement. However, due to winter weather conditions and asphalt plants closing for the season, the project has been suspended until the spring of 2013.

In the spring, Abbey Paving will resume the project with the intent to complete all improvements before June 15, 2013. Remaining improvements include roadway installation, addition of street lighting and sidewalk, and the extension of the existing east-west alley located between Blair Street and Ann Street.

The North Factory Street construction site will remain closed until the project is completed in the spring. The public sidewalk along the south side of Ann Street, between Sherman Street and Wood Street, will be accessible throughout the winter. However, pedestrians are encouraged to use the sidewalk along the north side of Ann Street for travelling east and west across the Canadian National Railway tracks.

As the work progresses, the City will update you on the project's status. Please visit www.westchicago.org periodically for the latest construction news update. If you should have any questions regarding the North Factory Street Improvement Project, please contact:
