Surveillance on Bicycle Breaks
Case in West Chicago
West Chicago, Illinois: June 20, 2007
- The West Chicago Police Department announced today the arrest of Adrian
Huerta for Burglary and Valentin Perez for Criminal Trespass to Vehicle.
On Monday June 18,
2007 at approximately 1:06 a.m. the West Chicago police Department was
called to the area of 516 Carriage Dr. for a report of suspicious people
rummaging through a vehicle. The responding officers discovered
evidence of a burglary inside of the car. The suspicious people had
fled the area on foot but left a bicycle behind.
Officers set up
surveillance on the bicycle and a short time later a suspect returned to
retrieve it. A foot pursuit ensued and the fleeing suspect and his
accomplice were apprehended.
During the ensuing
investigation, the two suspects, identified as follows, were charged with
the following crimes:
- Adrian Huerta, 20
year-old resident of the 500 block of Continental Dr. in
Warrenville.. He was charged with one count of
Burglary.
- Valentin Perez, 18
year-old resident of the 400 block of east Brown St. in West
Chicago. He was charged with one count of Criminal Trespass to
Vehicle.
Burglary is a Class
2 Felony punishable by a term of imprisonment of not less than 3 years and
not more than 7 years. Criminal Trespass to Vehicle is a Class A
Misdemeanor punishable by a term of not more than 1 year in jail and a
$2500 fine.
