Rash of Car Burglaries Prompt West Chicago Police to Issue Warning

West Chicago, Illinois: June 14, 2007 - The West Chicago Police Department is requesting assistance from the community related to recent motor vehicle burglaries that have occurred in the Meadowwood subdivision. After conducting an analysis of these burglaries a common factor has been identified. All vehicles that have been a target in the recent past have been left unlocked, therefore, police urge residents to lock their parked cars.

 

Police are performing extra watches in the area at different times of the day and night. Midnight officers will be checking all vehicles throughout the night for any unlocked vehicles. If officers locate an unlocked vehicle they will be notifying the owner of vehicle of such action.

Residents are asked to report any suspicious vehicles or individuals in their area by calling 911. Any questions or concerns may also be directed to the on-duty supervisor at (630) 293-2222.
