West Chicago's Art Fiesta in the Park Celebrates Hometown Cultural HeritageWest Chicago, Illinois: June 6, 2007 - The return of Railroad Days, July 12-15, 2007, also signals the return of West Chicago's Art Fiesta in the Park. For thirteen years, local artists with a West Chicago connection have participated in this highly anticipated event by submitting two works of their art.
Eligible media includes oil and watercolor painting, photographs, drawings, prints, mixed media, computer art, stained glass, and fiber. Sculpture and crafts are also welcome. Prizes will be awarded in four categories: Student (k-12), amateur, professional and crafts. An Opening Reception for artists and the public will be held on Friday, July 13, 2007 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
There is a registration fee of $5.00 for each piece of art submitted. Work must be delivered to the Scout Cabin 'gallery' at Reed-Keppler Park, located at 161 National on Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. or from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Volunteers are also needed for the event to help set up or staff the gallery during open hours. Art Fiesta in the Park is sponsored by the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission to celebrate hometown cultural heritage.
