Family Emergency Preparedness Seminars Offered in West Chicago
Sunday, October 7, 2007
West Chicago Fire District Open House

West Chicago, Illinois: September 21, 2007 - The City of West Chicago has learned that the Winfield Township Citizen Corp is partnering with the West DuPage Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) in offering "Family Emergency Preparedness Seminars" during the West Chicago Fire District Open House scheduled for Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the 200 Fremont location. The Open House will run from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and the 15-20 minute sessions will be held on the hour, starting at 11:00 a.m., during the Open House.

According to CERT, disasters disrupt hundreds of thousands of lives every year. After an emergency, essential services may be cut off and local disaster relief and government responders may not be able to reach residents right away. Knowing what to do is essential to protect lives and households. All are welcome and encouraged to attend the free sessions to learn how to develop a plan to reduce the impact and deal with the chaos of an emergency.

For more information, contact Winfield Township at (630) 231-3591 or visit the DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management website at www.dupagehealth.org.
