Adding to the merrymaking of Frosty Fest, and furthering community connection, forty-one downtown West Chicago businesses will be ready to greet children and their families with a holiday treat on Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The Stocking Stuffer promotion, sponsored by the V.F.W. Post 6791, provides the first 500 children with a free holiday stocking which can be filled with goodies from participating businesses from the East Gateway, Central Main Street, East & West Washington and Fremont downtown district. The activity was inspired by the success of the recent downtown trick or treat which brought more than 400 children downtown.

“It’s all about community, and strengthening relationships that continue to grow throughout the year between residents, visitors and businesses,” commented Krista Coltrin, Marketing Assistant for the City of West Chicago. Coltrin, along with Public Information Officer Valeria Perez, went door to door seeking support of the program from downtown business owners. “We were delighted by the enthusiastic response we encountered on our business visits. The community spirit is amazing,” said Perez.

A holiday stocking event poster in the storefront window will identify participating businesses. They include:
