West Chicago Frosty Fest to Bring Downtown Dazzle
Saturday, December 1, 2007
4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

West Chicago, Illinois: November 2, 2007 - West Chicago’s downtown will be transformed into an old-fashioned winter vignette on the evening of Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. when Frosty Fest, the seasonal celebration, takes on a new character. A planning team consisting of representatives of the community, City of West Chicago and West Chicago Park District, are hoping to take Frosty Fest to new heights by including exciting fresh elements that aim to delight children of all ages.

“The new start time of 4:00 p.m. will create a totally different atmosphere. Twinkling lights, strolling carolers and a horse-drawn sleigh are just some of the additions to the event this year,” said Anna Rosalez of the Park District. “An emphasis on a ‘grand tree-lighting’ ceremony on Main Street will be possible given the schedule we have created.”

All activities will be free.

West Chicago Mayor Michael Kwasman is hopeful that community support of the event will break all records this year and validate the desire to build on a tradition of celebrating the spirit of the season in the heart of the community. “We look to events such as this as an opportunity to come together as a community and share a collective sense of joy and wonder at this special time of year.”

Organizers are hoping that people mark their calendars to save the date in an otherwise hectic holiday season. “This is one event you won’t want to miss,” said Rosalez.

A schedule with complete details of the event will be posted on the City of West Chicago’s website, http://www.westchicago.org/, as soon as it becomes available.
