West Chicago Prospective Candidate Packets Available

West Chicago, IL: October 28, 2008 - The City of West Chicago has announced the availability of Prospective Candidate Packets for the April 7, 2009 consolidated election. The information packets will be available beginning on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at City Hall, located at 475 Main Street.

The following lists the offices up for election, including the service term:

  • Mayor – serves a four-year term
  • City Clerk – serves a four-year term
  • City Treasurer – serves a four-year term
  • Alderman – serves a four-year term; one each in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Wards
  • Alderman – serves a two-year term; one in the 2nd Ward

Candidates wishing to run for these offices must file the appropriate documents during the period of January 19 – 23, 2009, and January 26, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at West Chicago City Hall. The final day has been extended due to the observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Names will be placed on the ballot in the order in which they are filed. If two or more candidates file at the same time on the first day of filing, (or received in the first mail) a lottery will be held on January 27, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall, to determine the order in which those candidates’ names will appear on the ballot.
