After serving as Associate Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach for the past three years, Willie Bosque will be leaving Wheaton Academy to work for the San Diego Padres. Willie has been offered the opportunity to work for the San Diego Padres as the Scouting Area Supervisor for Florida and Puerto Rico.
Willie has been an Associate Scout part time since 2006 and was offered this position on Monday night. Willie played baseball in college for the University of Miami and then worked as assistant coach and then head coach for Tennessee Wesleyan College. A few years later he moved to Illinois and soon after came to work for Wheaton Academy. Willie will begin his new work with the San Diego Padres on September 1 and will be moving with his family to Florida. Willie is leaving behind an excellent group of assistant and lower level coaches at Wheaton Academy.
"While we are extremely saddened to see Coach Bosque leave we are excited about this opportunity for him and his family. Willie has played a key role in the development of the athletic department and has invested a lot of time and expertise into our baseball program. We are committed to build on the foundation he has established," said Paul Ferguson, Wheaton Academy Athletic Director.
Founded in 1853, Wheaton Academy is one of the nation's oldest Christian high schools. A college preparatory school, it is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and recognized by the State of Illinois and the DuPage County Education Service Region.
