Roadway Construction Projects on Hold During Strike

West Chicago, Illinois: July 1, 2010 – Due to a strike by the unions representing construction laborers and operators – including workers contracted by the City for its annual road construction program – the majority of the City's road construction projects are currently on hold. The strike has impacted all paving operations and road construction projects in West Chicago and the surrounding counties in northern Illinois.

At this time, the City has no schedule on when work will resume. If the strike is prolonged, the commencement and completion dates for West Chicago's road program projects will be delayed. The City will post updates on its website, www.westchicago.org in the Public Works section, as information becomes available.

The City regrets any inconvenience this situation may cause the community.
