COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT #94 PEACEBUILDERS HONORED WITH STATE RECOGNITIONS

 

June 19, 2008: West Chicago, IL - The Community High School District #94 ‘PeaceBuilders of the Month’ were honored with the ‘State of Illinois Senate Recognition’. State Senator Randy Hultgren (R-Wheaton) presented the recognitions, from the 95th General Assembly, at a CHS Board of Education meeting. Presenting with Senator Hultgren was School Board President Tony Reyes. Also in attendance at this presentation were parents, family, friends and CHS staff.

The honorees include: Sadie Roberts of West Chicago; Miguel Quinones of West Chicago; Alejandro Garcia of West Chicago; Rocio Estrada of West Chicago; Danny Calabrese of Carol Stream; Shannon Cassello of West Chicago; Isabel Correa of West Chicago; Cole Paler of Winfield; Calvin Holt of Winfield; and Yesenia Gomez of West Chicago.

John Chisholm, Social Studies teacher, and originator of the PeaceBuilder Recognition, states “The students were taken aback by the recognition. They loved receiving the award! They seem to have a renewed sense of compassion to assist others.” John also will be honored with a ‘State of Illinois Senate Recognition’ for his contribution in initiating the ‘PeaceBuilder of the Month’.

The PeaceBuilders were also invited, by Mayor Michael B. Kwasman, to a West Chicago City Council meeting. At this meeting Mayor Kwasman presented the PeaceBuilders with a Certificate of Achievement and a personalized portfolio.

Community High School is very proud of all of the PeaceBuilders and look forward to their continuing contributions!
