Passes Through West Chicago

West Chicago, Illinois: June 2, 2010 – The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois is set for Sunday, June 6, 2010, a segment of which will take place in West Chicago. Beginning at 8:00 a.m. at City Hall, members of the West Chicago Police Department will raise funds and awareness by running with a lighted torch to symbolize the Flame of Hope, down Wilson Avenue to Conde Street and south on Joliet Street to Roosevelt Road.

Since it began in Illinois in 1986, the Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised more than $19 million dollars and brought attention to the Special Olympics athletes and their accomplishments. Special Olympics Illinois is a not-for-profit organization which offers year-round training and competition in 19 sports for nearly 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 4,000 Young Athletes ages 2-7 with and without intellectual disabilities.
