West Chicago, Illinois: May 27, 2009 - Big trucks hold big interest for children of all ages and the West Chicago Police Department and the West Chicago Park District offer an exciting opportunity to get a birds-eye view of some of the biggest. Touch-a-Truck returns to Reed-Keppler Park, located at National and Arbor Streets, on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the Turtle Splash Water Park.

Youngsters and adults will have an opportunity to look at, sit in or climb on unusual trucks and equipment from the City of West Chicago’s Public Works and Police Departments, as well as the West Chicago Fire Protection District and multiple local businesses. Free hot dogs, fried dough and Italian ice will be served and other promotional items will be available at the event. Plus, there will be opportunities to win an assortment of prizes.

Last year’s event brought out hundreds of kids and their families for a chance to toot the horn of some mighty trucks. The event’s creator, Officer Tony Quarto, has brought Touch-a-Truck to life for the past four years after attending a similar event in another community. He calls the effort ‘simple fun’ for the whole family.

Admission is free. No advance registration is required. For additional information, contact the West Chicago Police Department at (630) 293-2222, or the West Chicago Park District at (630) 293-9474.
