Roadway Safety Program Successful in West Chicago

Campaign #3 Begins and Runs Through May 31, 2010


 
 
West Chicago, Illinois: May 17, 2010 - The West Chicago Police Department announced that Campaign #2 of the Illinois Department of Transportation funded grant was successful in educating the motoring public on Seatbelt Safety and Awareness. The Campaign ran from December 18, 2009-January 3, 2010 and resulted in 140 citations being issued for Seatbelt and Child Restraint violations.

Campaign #3 is the second of five overall campaigns funded by a grant received from the Illinois Department of Transportation. This grant allows the West Chicago Police Department to hire back Officers to provide traffic enforcement for child restraint, seatbelt, speeding, and alcohol related violations. This grant started in October, and will end September 30, 2010.

Campaign # 3 runs May 14, 2010 through May 31, 2010. A continuing effort will be made citywide to make roadways safer by enforcing these violations and educating the public on seatbelt safety and awareness.
