West Chicago, Illinois - May 5, 2008 - The West Chicago Police Department announced that Campaign #2 of the Illinois Department of Transportation funded grant was successful in educating the motoring public on Seatbelt Safety and Awareness. The Campaign ran from December 17, 2007-January 1, 2008 and resulted in 179 citations being issued for Seatbelt and Child Restraint violations.
Campaign #2 is the second of five overall campaigns funded by the grant. This grant allows the West Chicago Police Department to hire back Officers to provide traffic enforcement for child restraint, seatbelt, speeding, and alcohol related violations. This grant started in October 2007, and will end September 30, 2008.
Campaign # 3 will begin on May 19, 2008 and run through June 2, 2008. A continuing effort will be made citywide to make roadways safer by enforcing these violations and educating the public on seatbelt safety and awareness. |
