West Chicago Announces New Youth Program

West Chicago, Illinois - April 4, 2008 - The City of West Chicago has announced the creation of a new program to help address the needs of youth in the community. The hiring of a Youth Coordinator signals renewed vigor for the City’s commitment to create and maintain appealing programs and services that support its youth.

The contracted position will interface with other organizations and/or taxing bodies that represent the interests of West Chicago youth, build networks of mutual support for the funding and communication of available programs and resources as well as to ensure an adequate volunteer pool necessary to maintain such successful programs as Open-Gym and Senior Leaf-Raking.

Additionally, the coordinated effort will aim to harness the energy and imagination of the youth in the community and further spark effective programs that will appeal to their broad areas of interest. “West Chicago has a culture of being proactive toward the needs of its citizens, and the hiring of a Youth Coordinator is one more example of our government in action. Developing an ongoing, open dialogue with the youth of our community serves everyone’s best interests. We will learn from each other,” said Mayor Michael B. Kwasman.
