West Chicago City Museum Introduces
New Innovative Programs for Children

West Chicago, IL: February 20, 2009 - Two new history-based programs geared for children are coming to the West Chicago City Museum in March. hiSTORY Hour and Shaking Your Family Tree offer interactive, family-oriented lessons in history that youths can share for free with a parent or adult caregiver.

hiSTORY Hour, open to children between the ages of 3-5, offers preschoolers an opportunity for crafts, songs and music with a historical theme. Topics for the March 12, 19 and 26, 2009 classes are trains, quilts and Spring with the April 9, 16, and 23, 2009 classes based on the Presidents. Classes are from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. and will be limited in size. The registration deadline is March 9 for the March classes and April 6 for the April classes .

Family history is at the root of Shaking Your Family Tree, an interactive genealogy class for children ages eight and older. Find out where to go for sources of family history information, many of which are free, and how to make your own family tree on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. The registration deadline is March 9.

Located at 132 Main Street, the West Chicago City Museum is open Tuesday - Friday, 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Admission is free.
