The West Chicago Police Department would like to introduce a county wide program available to senior citizens.
The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for their Guardian Program, a computerized telephone call system that provides routine well being checks.
Here’s how the program works. Interested residents fill out an application (DOC - 24k) and return it to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. On their scheduled day(s) and time, participants will receive a computerized phone call and will enter a pre-determined four digit password to signal their well-being. If they do not answer the phone or their password is not entered properly, a police dispatcher will try to call them. If no contact is made, a designated family member or neighbor will be called. If still unsuccessful, a police officer will be dispatched to check on the resident.
This program is offered at no cost to the resident and is available to any resident of DuPage County who is at least 62 years of age or who is physically or mentally disabled and lives alone.
Anyone interested in participating in the Guardian Program must complete an application. Applications can be picked up at the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office (501 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton), at the West Chicago Police Department or at any Township Office. You can also download an application (DOC - 24k). To have an application mailed to you or for more information, please call (630) 407-2400. |
