Beth Berg
PeaceBuilder of the Month for December

Beth Berg, of Winfield and a Junior at Community High School District 94, has been recognized as the December PeaceBuilder of the month for her devotion to helping others and also for being a source of inspiration for the students and staff alike at WeGo. She is to be commended for her service and desire to improve the atmosphere at CHS.

Beth credits her parents, friends, and numerous teachers who have set excellent examples of being peacemakers. For Beth, peace is a state of mind, not a symbol. As she claims, “It’s the thoughts in your head or the actions you take to help other people in small or big ways”. She feels grateful when peaceful acts are committed towards her because “most of the time it is an unnecessary act so that person had to go out of their way for me.”

One of Beth’s favorite songs that promotes peace is called, “Give Peace A Chance” by John Lennon. Her favorite quote concerning peace is, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are (John Wooden)”. Beth is very involved in the high school and is a member of the Art Club, Club Green, Mind’s Eye, the school newspaper, and the Photo Club while managing to keep very good grades in high school. She plans on receiving her Masters in Psychology and becoming a social worker in a high school upon graduation.
