Gallery 200 - 200 Main Street
West Chicago, Illinois: January 17, 2008 – West
Chicago’s Gallery 200 welcomes award winning artist Bernadette
Malovany as the February Featured Artist. Gallery goers will delight
in her watercolor, oil and acrylic paintings which explore themes
including local scenery, flowers, forest preserves and gardens
created in an impressionistic and realistic style.
Malovany, born and raised in
Pennsylvania, has studied drawing, painting and sculpture at the
Carnegie Art Museum and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
Later she took advanced courses at the American Academy of Art and
Triton College in the Chicago area. She worked in the travel
industry for many years and has traveled extensively, which gave her
a broad ‘picture’ of the world.
While raising her family, Malovany
painted on a commission basis and for her own pleasure and
relaxation. She loves to paint to music and has demonstrated this
for children in some of the area’s local schools. She feels this
brings out creative feelings and aids children who may have
difficulty expressing these feelings.
Malovany, who is currently an active
member of the DuPage Art League and serves on their Board of
Directors, will host an Opening Reception at Gallery 200 on
Friday, February 8, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. All are
invited to the free event.
Gallery 200, located at 200 Main Street,
is a cultural initiative supported by the City of West Chicago and
the Cultural Arts Commission. The City of West Chicago has been
designated as an Illinois Arts Friendly Community by the Illinois
Arts Alliance and the Illinois Municipal League. For more
